A Typical Day at Our School

At Rocky Mountain School of Discovery, the children are free to choose their activities and who to play with, but they are encouraged to participate in all planned activities. By working with the children individually or in small groups, the teachers will be able to build a strong relationship with the children. The teacher will know each individual child's strengths and areas where special attention is needed. In this way, the teacher will have knowledge about each child's interests and passions and to better individualize the teaching process for optimal learning.

Well-Rounded Educational Experiences

In the early morning, we have free play, arts and crafts, pre-academic / academic center, and baking and cooking, followed by snack time. Later in the morning, we have circle time that includes songs, rhymes, music and movements to celebrate the season. We also talk about the day / theme of the week, the weather, the letter of the week, colors, numbers and shapes. We read stories from the author of the month. The children also learn to take turns sharing their thoughts and respecting others by listening.

We spend a great part of the day outside and if weather permits, we bring a lot of our activities outdoor and lunch is enjoyed outside whenever we can.

One of our weekly highlights is our music program where musicians are coming in sharing their gifts and talents. The children are introduced to various music genres and participate by playing different instruments, singing, and dancing.
